They supply a router ready set up to connect to their internet service.
This will not work with another ISP without being flashed and set up for the new ISP..

You can buy routers wihich use the new wifi 6 standards but as yet few devices can take advantage of those facilities. To replace a Sky hub you need a modem router that can link to Sky lines who use an authentication system that is different from other isps.
